Yes, it is part of the Z3 memory space, and theoretically you could add
up to 2 GB of memory...

Because every Zorro card needs address space, for example my PicassoIV Z3
allocates 32 MB RAM.

The problem is much clearer when you look at 16 Bit Zorro2 machines like
A500 w/ busboard or A2000. When you had 8 MB of memory added (Z2
maximum), you could not add any other expansion cards like for example
gfx adapters or Bridgeboards. Fortunately 32 bit RAM on accelerator
cards is not part of the z2 address space

The problem with Z3 memory cards is that they are dead slow, even slower
than the A4000 motherboard RAM. The fastest option is still to have the
RAM on the accelerator board.

I have a Delfina Lite, and are very happy with it. The new Plus card looks
even better.

The problem is that Petsoff doesn't answer mail/fax send to them. I send
an upgrade order to Petsoff (after emailing them about it, yup, they replied
back then...), after a month it came back with a "Unclaimed" sticker on the
envelope.

Software Hut told me that they received an order from them 1 week ago, and
that they send mail to Jyrki.

There was a whole long thread on this very subject on the DOpus5 mailing list
not so long back. It may get updated in a future version but IMHO it's not
that important. Though a very good one, NewIcons was only ever a third party
hack. All icons for use on 3.5 should be turned into proper 3.5 ones as this
is the new standard.

I had the same problem. You need to copy over the new Installer (v44.10) from
the CD into you C: directory. Then try again. It seems the old installer
doesn't understand a function in the install script.

I doubt it i have a new plextor cdrom drive and under OS 3.5 it will not
even show
a icon if it tries to access a DVD and fails!.I have tested it! the light on
the front just blinks afew times after it tries to access the DVD.The pits
and dots(or whatever they are called on CDs)are a hell of a lot smaller on
DVDs,so unless it clearly states it on the drive (ie for DVDs)it cannot
read them anyway.

AFAIK there's nothing you can do legally to get your money back, there's no
legal protection at all with private sales. The only thing you can do is
appeal to the sellers conscience, and hope for the best. I've got a similar
problem with a drive I bought on eBase5 :-(

I've decided that buying second-hand hard drive is not a good idea, although
I've had a couple of good bargains, some others have been either very noisey,
or even DOA :-\

not if its for 'time-shifting' purposes. You cant sell or hadn the taoe
to anyone else (or else it is piracy) and you arent entitled to keep the

firm action is being taken.. even the UK media is now behaving as if

programs) thats its 100% illegal.

??? it all depends on what was meant by 'copy' of the game...i'm sure he
means it as 'his copy' and not a non-original...especially if he was
going to swap it at a local shop!!

For example, I use the word 'copy' for all of my software apps and
games.. Its a common word to use, and certainly does not 100% mean
that its a pirate copy..

I just hide the device from being mounted (using HDToolBox) and tell
shapeshifter which device to use..doesnt work with Fusion though.

so, can someone tell me how to make a mountfile...havent made one for
about 6 years!!!

use IconEdit to make an icon....make sure its a project icon type before
you save it...and save the icon as 'whateveryourguideiscalled'.info

why not do the proper computer freelance operative and run a small
'clock program' that counts when you are working on a project?

you have project selection and can stop, start or pause the clock

:-) I got 26/30 - i fell on a few of the programming questions. 2 of the
questions were wrong, however, and after an email to the author, he will
correct them.

os2.1 was released after 3.0 - it gave 2.0 users some of the os3.0

I've not brought 3.5, but I dont have any need for it, To be honest, I get
all I need from workbench (I still run in workbench), I brought Scalos, and
Opus, but both miffed me off.

I bet your dead right to, god knows how many people have pirated it, maybe
thats whats on the next afb cd rom :\

(due to lack of sales)

I dont think people realise just how much power they hold in their hands
when they pirate. I dont think they look at the wider problems it causes.

That is certainly true regarding graphics and sound cards.

Yes, but I couldn`t care less about celebrating its memory just make
use of hardware we already have.

I bought AF for ten years along with CU for many years and lost count
of the amount of times an article came out anouncing the "New Amiga"
with a drawing of an weird shaped empty box. Do you believe for a
moment that AA would have started up last year if they had not believed
that a new machine was about to be released? It was the magazine owners
and enthuesiasts who were conned. Remember the piece about about Mr
Collas`s predictions of a 30% market share, the picture caption read
"What are they looking at?" The point being that you can sell any
ridiculous rubbish to people who want to believe it.

As far as I understand this is illigal in this country unless stated in
the advert.

Why should I have to chase these people - Amiga support is lousey. I
have purchased about a hundred pieces of PC software off the net and
each company has first class customer support - including Microsoft.

questions I asked in AF`s help column were answered incorrectly, I went
elsewhere for the correct advice. If AF do not have the technical staff
to answer hardware questions that is fair enough but they should just
say so rather than give spurious advice.

I don`t believe that A500s are such a minority I bet they outsold 1200s
by far. They are all fully working but under peoples beds or in lofts
all that it needed is a magazine to provide the incentive to get people
to plug them in again. (BTW I have several Amigas including three
1200s.)

Well, I gave it ten years and I stopped last November. I would buy it
again if it contained things of real value but constant news items
about a non-existant
new dawn is waste of space for me.

.com doesnt mean ONLY US companies. its just that most US companies were
on the web first.. .com can be a company anywhere. Its only recently
that the NIC decided to regionalise per se. still, you dont see many
co.us addresses! ;-)
